African Americans are always positioned to have to speak for and too the decay of social values because of hip hop. But what people forget is that hip hop was created in response to the social decay of an America city: new York. How are we the culprits in society when the only way to respond to issues like globalization, the reduction of manufacturing jobs, greed, poverty was to create music that spoke to that fucking reality. Music that didn’t let u forget u were living in horrible fucking state in real time.

That’s not the responsibility of music but the responsibility of civil servants, teachers, politicians, the media and the news journalists.

Hip hop is what happens when young people are called upon to give the weather report of the ghetto. You get the flaws and the immaturity but that does not or should not invalidate the message.
